Our Commitment

The Triterra Commitment

Our commitment to our customers, our environment and our society

The Sustainable Development Goals are a global call to action to protect the planet and to improve the lives and prospects of people right across the world.

We are dedicated to reducing carbon emissions and work towards the UNs Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), both within our business, and through the support services that we provide. Within our policy, outlined below, have identified several key sustainable development goals (SDGs) and principles that we will work toward in-house, and through our business, to help strive for a better future for our planet, our society and our businesses for generations to come.

SDG 4: Quality Education

4.4: By 2030, substantially increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship

4.7: By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development

How we will do this:

We will achieve this by continuing our volunteer work in educating, upskilling and facilitating young adults with the relevant skills, understanding and knowledge for their future lives in employment.

We will encourage young people to consider their roles as responsible business leaders of the future in enabling positive change, diversity and inclusion and innovation.

Through our B2B services, we will work to raise awareness and create change around sustainability issues by facilitating businesses and organisations in acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to promote and enable sustainable development, taking into consideration adoption of the SDGs.

SDG 5: Gender Equality

5.1: End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere

5.4: Recognize and value unpaid care and domestic work through the provision of public services, infrastructure and social protection policies and the promotion of shared responsibility within the household and the family as nationally appropriate

5.5: Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life

5.b: Enhance the use of enabling technology, in particular information and communications technology, to promote the empowerment of women

Goal 5 Gender Equality

How we will do this:

As a female owned organisation Triterra 100% supports women owned businesses and female entrepreneurship and we understand only too well the many, and varied roles that women play within the home, and the workplace.

Through Triterra’s work, we will continue to support other female business owners, and those keen to forge ahead in the world of entrepreneurialism; we support young women and girls who want to explore and access opportunities across all elements of their lifestyles, and we will continue to help raise awareness of the many reasons as to why, where and how other businesses can help support and benefit from supporting women within their workplaces.

SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth

8.3: Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, including through access to financial services

8.4: Improve progressively, through 2030, global resource efficiency in consumption and production and endeavour to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation, in accordance with the 10-year framework of programmes on sustainable consumption and production, with developed countries taking the lead

8.5: By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value

8.7: Take immediate and effective measures to eradicate forced labour, end modern slavery and human trafficking and secure the prohibition and elimination of the worst forms of child labour, including recruitment and use of child soldiers, and by 2025 end child labour in all its forms

How we will do this:

We will work hard to put sustainability on the map and “promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all”.

We will exemplify, promote and encourage engagement in these values through our:

  • Mentoring and training services
  • Events and networking opportunities
  • Business development services
  • Business partners and associate recruitment exercises
  • Staff recruitment exercises
  • Contract wins

We will work with businesses and organisations at every stage to help facilitate sustainable outcomes that generate economic growth, job creation and innovative services that support society and the environment, in a fair, just and transparent way, and in compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

12.6: Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle

Theglobalgoals Icons Color Goal 12

How we will do this:

We will be mindful of our own consumption habits, will endeavour to be responsible and avoid unnecessary consumption of resources within our processes and our day-to-day work habits.

We will also work with businesses of every shape and size to help them also achieve this goal. We aim to achieve this through our ongoing service offering which includes, mentoring, training and workshop delivery, strategy development and implementation, focused events and networking sessions.

We will work with brand new businesses to help them build this into their start-up plans right through to established organisations who want to align and achieve, doing our part to contribute toward building business that delivers on sustainable profit and planet and a healthy, happy and inclusive society.

In-house, we will follow the waste hierarchy in striving to avoid unnecessary purchases, reduce waste and recycle or compost what we can.

We will always endeavour to obtain our energy from renewable resources.

We will be mindful of how, and how often, we choose to travel, especially with more carbon-intensive forms of transport such as flights.

This is not an exhaustive list and we will continue to modify and improve where we can.

SDG 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

13.3: Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning

Goal 13

How we will do this:

Triterra will strive to reduce its own carbon footprint by:

  • Avoiding unnecessary travel
  • Using energy saving lightbulbs and LED lighting
  • Switching off electrical appliances and monitors when not in use
  • Follow the waste hierarchy
  • Recycle office paper
  • Conserve water
  • Choose a green energy supplier

We will also work to develop opportunities and strategies that help  improve citizen awareness and education, campaigning for it to become more mainstreamed in education policies; education curricula (such as through staff training; event opportunities or through national campaign opportunities) and through 1:1 mentoring and upskilling opportunities.

We will work with partners and organisations to strengthen their institutional, systemic and individual capacity-building so that they are enabled to implement adaptation, mitigation and strategic climate action plans.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

17.17 Encourage and promote effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of partnerships

Theglobalgoals Icons Color Goal 17

How we will do this:

As the saying goes:

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” African Proverb

The only way for SDGs, and true sustainability, to be fully realised is when businesses, NGOs, Governments and society cooperate.

We will use our personal network to open up pathways towards helping businesses achieve their corporate social responsibility goals, what’s more, we will work to provide ongoing opportunities for networking and relationship building between the business, charity, NGO and community sectors.

In-house, we will continue to work towards strengthening our partnerships, we will work to bring our contacts together where opportunities for collaboration and innovation exist, and we will continue to volunteer and work with our charity partners to help achieve our shared goals.

Our promise:

Whilst we have chosen to focus on these SDGs, which we feel are most relevant, and best representative of the work that we can do to help effect positive change, we support each of the 17 global goals and recognise that there are many areas of overlap. We will endeavour in our work to raise awareness of, and alignment with these goals within each of the businesses and organisations that we engage with.

We promise that we will work hard to ensure that we put sustainability on the business map and that we will fully engage with each and every client to help them realise their full potential in achieving their corporate responsibility and sustainable development goals, because we believe that business can be better when we do it together!
